Keystone Heights is a perfect 10-0 against Bradford since March of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. Keystone Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Keystone Heights made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fernandina Beach, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Indians blew past the Pirates 9-1 on Tuesday. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.
Ty Mitzel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Andrew Wilson and Ethan Franklin did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson went 2-for-4 with one home run, while Franklin went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Franklin has posted since back in February. Destin Harnage was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.
Keystone Heights was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fernandina Beach only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Bradford was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to Williston. The Tornadoes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bradford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Patrick Pendarvis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Bradford now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Keystone Heights, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Keystone Heights has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bradford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Keystone Heights took their victory against Bradford when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 11-3 score. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Tornadoes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
