Basketball Recap: Lanila Fatica's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South over Mayfield

South lost against Mayfield on January 8th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The South Rebels fell 45-35 to the Mayfield Wildcats. While the Rebels didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 15-10 in the first quarter.

Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lanila Fatica, who posted 11 points. Olivia Pennington was another key player, putting up nine points.

South now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Mayfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South has already played their next contest (against Kenston), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mayfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Chardon at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
