Basketball Game Preview: Williamsport Wildcats vs. Walkersville Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Williamsport's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Williamsport is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Catoctin 85-48 on Friday. With the Wildcats ahead 48-25 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Williamsport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zay Oree, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Oree a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ceonta Wilmore, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists.

Oree wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Williamsport was working as a unit and finished the game with 32 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Walkersville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 67-55 win over the Warriors.

Williamsport is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34.9% in those games and 23.3% outside of them. As for Walkersville, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Williamsport took their win against Walkersville in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 59-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Williamsport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
