Recap: Scotland Fighting Scots vs. Richmond Raiders
After flying high against the Lee County Yellow Jackets last Friday, The Scotland Fighting Scots came back down to earth. Scotland took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richmond on Friday. The game was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but Scotland was outscored by Richmond in the second.
When it comes to explaining why Scotland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zay Jones. Despite the final result, he rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns. Jones hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Ji'san Mcphatter, who rushed for 81 yards on only ten carries.
Richmond got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Domonic Tillman out in front who threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. JV Drake was another key contributor, picking up 168 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Scotland's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Richmond, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.
Scotland will be playing at home against Rocky Mount at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Richmond, they will head out on the road to face off against Leesville Road at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
