Baseball Recap: Cerritos Beats Pioneer for Their Fourth Straight Win

Cerritos won the last time they faced Pioneer and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Dons were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Titans. Winning may never get old, but the Dons sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Jacob Hoosac looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Braxton Reed, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Cerritos: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Kaden Brickner also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Cerritos' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Pioneer, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Cerritos will take on Bishop Montgomery at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Dons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pioneer, they will square off against Cerritos at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
