Basketball Recap: Boone Comes Up Short

Boone was the 48-43 winner over Winterset when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Boone Toreadors opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-48 defeat to the Winterset Huskies. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Toreadors came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Huskies are ranked 250th).

This is the second loss in a row for Boone and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for Winterset, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Carlisle the next time they take the court. Boone will host Carlisle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Winterset will host them at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
