The Barron Collier Cougars posted their biggest win since December 14, 2023 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Aubrey Rogers with a sharp 83-57 win. Given Barron Collier's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while Aubrey Rogers is ranked 604th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Spencer Clayton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Gabe Markhart was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Aubrey Rogers lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dylan Lash, who scored 15 points along with four blocks. Another player making a difference was Thomas Zelek, who scored 14 points.
The victory was the third in a row for Barron Collier, bringing their record for this year to 15-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Aubrey Rogers, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Coincidentally, Barron Collier and Aubrey Rogers will both be playing Dunbar the next time they take the court. Aubrey Rogers will head out to face Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Barron Collier will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
