Recap: Lincoln Northeast Rockets vs. Burke Bulldogs
Even though the Lincoln Northeast Rockets have not done well against the Burke Bulldogs recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Lincoln Northeast took down Burke 76-57. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Lincoln Northeast has managed all season.
It was another big night for Brecken Wilke, who scored ten points along with four steals. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Hayden Tenopir, who scored nine points.
Burke's loss came despite strong showings from Ryan Rummel and Nate Collins. Rummel scored 13 points, while Collins scored 12 points. Collins continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Arieon Mcclain was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Lincoln Northeast and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Burke, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Lincoln Northeast will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Grand Island at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Burke and Gretna East will face off at 10:15 a.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Gretna East is ranked 213th, while Burke is ranked 219th).
