Mt. Vernon had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Evansville Central Bears as they made off with a 3-0 win. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Mt. Vernon never let Evansville Central on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-18, 25-20.

Leading Mt. Vernon to victory were Hannah McNeece and Maiya Jones. McNeece had 32 digs and two assists, while Jones had 12 digs and four aces. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 2 aces per game.

They weren't the only good servers: Mt. Vernon was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They are 7-2 when they serve at least ten aces.

Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Evansville Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
