Baseball Game Preview: Irvine Vaqueros vs. Crean Lutheran Saints

The Irvine Vaqueros will face off against the Crean Lutheran Saints at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Irvine is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Irvine saw some tournament action on Monday. They fell 6-3 to Pacifica.

Roshan Patel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evan Tamayo was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Leo Garcia also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Crean Lutheran also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Laguna Beach by a score of 5-1. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Irvine's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Crean Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

Irvine couldn't quite get it done against Crean Lutheran in their previous meeting back in March of 2016 as they fell 6-3. Can Irvine avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
