Recap: Cortez Colts vs. Tempe Buffaloes
The Cortez Colts posted their biggest win since December 7, 2023 on Thursday. They put the hurt on Tempe with a sharp 77-56 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Cortez got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Devan Fowler out in front who scored 26 points along with three steals. Fowler hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ulysses Espinoza, who scored 22 points.
Several Buffaloes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Arthur Murphy, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Irizarry-Navarro, who scored nine points along with six assists and three steals.
The win got Cortez back to even at 8-8. As for Tempe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cortez and Dysart will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Dysart has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,003 points over their last 14 matchups. As for Tempe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Combs at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Combs is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
