Softball Recap: Wheaton Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Wheaton Academy dropped their record down to 7-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the St. Edward Green Wave by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Warriors couldn't push the score so high this time.

Tati Chavez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Wheaton Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Moses, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for St. Edward, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 22nd.

On St. Edward's side, Alaina Nolan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Nolan has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Wheaton Academy will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Parkview Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. As for St. Edward, they will head out to take on Aurora Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.94 runs per game on average), something the Green Wave will no doubt try to take advantage of.
