Soccer Game Preview: Maize vs. Northwest

The Maize Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Northwest Grizzlies on Thursday. Northwest took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Maize, who comes in off a win.

Maize took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Hutchinson.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Northwest was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They came up short against Manhattan, falling 4-0.

Maize is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five matchups. As for Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-2.

Maize couldn't quite get it done against Northwest in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
