Basketball Game Preview: Nevada Cubs vs. Webster City Lynx

The Nevada Cubs will square off against the Webster City Lynx at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Nevada knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Webster City likes a good challenge.

Nevada is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past West Marshall 76-43 on Friday. The Cubs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Webster City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-56 heartbreaker at the hands of Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lynx came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS are ranked 271st).

Nevada pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Webster City, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Nevada strolled past Webster City when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 60-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nevada since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
