Football Recap: Chloe Cleveland and Aniya Tyson Pace Gardendale Defense

Minor came into Tuesday's matchup looking for another win against Gardendale, but Asia Jones wouldn't allow it. The Rockets took down the Tigers 20-6 on Tuesday with plenty of help from Jones, who rushed for 92 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 141 yards and one touchdown. She was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.

One reason for the win was Gardendale's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Chloe Cleveland and Aniya Tyson, who racked up all seven sacks between them.

Gardendale has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gardendale will challenge Boaz at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates' defense has only allowed nine points per game this season, so the Rockets' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Minor, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Parker at 5:30 p.m. on October 7.
