League recap: Pulliam dominating on the mound for Lawrence County

5A Area 16 league recap: 3/20/13

Lawrence County's Blake Pulliam was the best pitcher in 5A Area 16 this week. He won two games and retired 21 batters.

Carson Jones had the hottest bat in the league this week, racking up a .486 average with 12 RBIs. The Red Devils compiled a record of 5-2 in that time.

Lawrence County boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

The Red Devils' Jones is blazing through the ranks in 5A Area 16 this season as he leads the league in batting average, hits and RBIs. This season Jones has feasted on opponents pitching with a .522 average and 16 RBIs thanks to 24 hits.

Lawrence County's Jordan Simpson was locked in this week, and led the league with a .500 average (17-for-34) over that span. He's batting .432 on the year, which puts him at second in the league. Simpson has 19 hits total this season.



Jones drove in five runners as the Red Devils defeated Wilson 13-0 on Tuesday. He went 2-for-3 and scored zero runs.
