Baseball Recap: Rantoul Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Rantoul's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the St. Teresa Bulldogs.

Levi Duitsman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Rantoul is 7-1 when Duitsman posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rantoul got a big performance out of Dayton Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Holden Cargo, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Rantoul has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for St. Teresa, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rantoul will welcome Monticello at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Teresa, they will host Lanphier at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on an 18-game losing streak.
