Softball Recap: Kewanee Triumphs

Kewanee won the last time they faced Mendota and things went their way on Thursday too. The Boilermakers walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Trojans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Boilermakers.

Audrey Clucas was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rylee Blades, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Kewanee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive matchups.

Kewanee's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Mendota, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kewanee will venture away from home to square off against Rockridge at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Boilermakers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mendota, they will square off against Orion at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.41 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
