Basketball Recap: Notasulga Takes a Loss

Notasulga was the 62-40 winner over Verbena when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Notasulga Blue Devils fell just short of the Verbena Red Devils by a score of 45-43 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since January 20, 2024.

Verbena got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Caleb Short out in front who posted 12 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Short has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Kelley, who went 6 of 12 en route to 13 points and seven boards.

Notasulga is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12. As for Verbena, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.

Notasulga does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Verbena, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-54 defeat against Autauga Academy on the 4th.
