Softball Recap: Ephrata Triumphs

Ephrata won the last time they faced Othello and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Huskies. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Sidney Chornuk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Ephrata got a big performance out of Cami Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Martinez has launched this season. Riley Trusy was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Ephrata's record is now 8-9. As for Othello, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Ephrata will venture away from home to take on Quincy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers are facing the Jackrabbits at the right time seeing as the Jackrabbits are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Othello, they will head out on the road to challenge Selah at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
