Baseball Game Preview: Quartz Hill Royals vs. Highland Bulldogs

The Quartz Hill Royals are taking a road trip to challenge the Highland Bulldogs at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Quartz Hill is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Last Friday, Quartz Hill got the win against Knight by a conclusive 13-1. The contest marked the Royals' most dominant victory of the season.

Chris Quintero looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Quartz Hill is 2-1 when Quintero allows two or fewer hits, but 6-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Hector Anaya was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Maddox Farrell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Quartz Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Highland was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They fell 5-2 to West Ranch. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Highland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mateo Dominguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Quartz Hill pushed their record up to 8-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7-1.

Quartz Hill took their win against Highland in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 8-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
