Basketball Recap: Bayard Rustin Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Great Valley

Bayard Rustin lost to Great Valley on January 9th, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Bayard Rustin Golden Knights snuck past the Great Valley Patriots with a 54-49 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Golden Knights' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 509th, while the Patriots are ranked 198th).

Bayard Rustin has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Great Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bayard Rustin has already played their next game (against Upper Merion Area), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Great Valley will face off against Unionville at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
