Basketball Recap: Midland Trail's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Midland Trail had won three straight games and Payton Bailes did his part to make it four on Friday. The Midland Trail Patriots narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the PikeView Panthers 68-65 thanks in part to Bailes, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Midland Trail's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Thomas, who posted 13 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

Midland Trail's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for PikeView, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Midland Trail will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Clay-Battelle at 2:00 p.m. on December 31st. Midland Trail is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. As for PikeView, they will venture away from home to take on Summit Christian Academy at 9:00 p.m. on December 27th. One thing working in Summit Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
