After a string of five wins, Hanover's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 62-26 loss at the hands of the Walsh Eagles. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-14.

Hanover's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Thomas Griffin Jr., who rushed for 160 yards and three TDs, and Joseph Molina, who rushed for 41 yards and one score. Griffin Jr. also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Molina for the heroic effort on defense: he. Hanover didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.

Hanover's defensive line didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Walsh's QB won't forget Tanner Lindsey anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

Hanover's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Walsh, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hanover will square off against Cheyenne Wells at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Hornets have won five straight at home dating back to last season, while the Tigers won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Walsh, they will challenge Cheraw at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Wolverines' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.78 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
