Basketball Game Preview: Saginaw Rough Riders vs. Granbury Pirates

The Saginaw Rough Riders will take on the Granbury Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Saginaw came up into this matchup off a tough 20-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Fossil Ridge by a score of 51-49 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rough Riders have suffered since November 28, 2023.

Despite their loss, Saginaw saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Trystan Overman, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 19 boards, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Overman a new career-high in rebounds. Willie McCrary was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Granbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-58 heartbreaker at the hands of Fossil Ridge.

Granbury's loss dropped their record down to 13-21. As for Saginaw, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-21 record this season.

Saginaw was able to grind out a solid win over Granbury in their previous matchup back in January, winning 59-47. Does Saginaw have another victory up their sleeve, or will Granbury turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
