Preview: Hilltop Cadets vs. Montpelier Locomotives
The Hilltop Cadets will head out on the road to challenge the Montpelier Locomotives at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hilltop is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.
Hilltop stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 39-17 margin over Gorham Fayette. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Hilltop has posted since December 5, 2023.
Meanwhile, everything went Montpelier's way against Hicksville on Tuesday as Montpelier made off with a 51-28 win. Given Montpelier's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Hicksville is ranked 690th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hilltop pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Montpelier, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.
Hilltop suffered a grim 52-30 defeat to Montpelier in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Hilltop avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
