Recap: Canyon Springs Pioneers vs. Valley Vikings
On Friday, The Canyon Springs Pioneers got themselves on the board against the Valley Vikings, but the Valley Vikings never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 42-0 victory over the Vikings on the road. The result was nothing new for Canyon Springs, who have now won four matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.
The team won by holding Valley to a paltry 196 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Canyon Springs' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Kion Thomas and Jeramie Johnson who racked up four sacks between them.
Canyon Springs' win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Valley, Chaparral, and Pinecrest Academy Cadence. As for Valley, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Canyon Springs will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Valley at 6:00 p.m. As for Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Canyon Springs at 6:00 p.m.
