Basketball Recap: Eastmark Comes Up Short

Eastmark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles on the road by a 72-58 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (56), the Firebirds still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Eastmark lost, don't look at Rhys Walcott. Despite the final result, he went 11 of 18 on his way to 33 points. Walcott's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Dayne Silver was another key player, putting up five points and eight rebounds.

ALA - Gilbert North was led to victory by Viktor Babic and Conner Morris. Babic went 8 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points, while Morris posted 15 points along with seven assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave Babic a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Morris, who put up nine points.

Eastmark's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for ALA - Gilbert North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastmark will venture away from home to square off against Combs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Combs is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they will head out to challenge Crismon at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
