Basketball Recap: Iraan Comes Up Short

Iraan lost against Wink last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Iraan Braves had to suffer through a 79-8 loss at the hands of the Wink Wildcats. The Braves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-0.

Adelynn Thompson was her usual excellent self, going 14 of 24 on her way to 30 points and eight boards for Wink. The matchup was Thompson's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Delaney Dodd-Fernandes, who went 7 for 9 en route to 15 points and seven steals.

Iraan has been struggling recently as they've lost 16 of their last 18 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-23 record this season. As for Wink, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 22-8.

Iraan will face off against Whiteface at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Whiteface will roll in looking for their 24th straight win, something Iraan surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wink, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Wink Wildcats challenge the Fort Stockton Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Wink has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
