Basketball Recap: Milford Christian Triumphs

Milford Christian lost to Odenton Christian back in February, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Milford Christian Conquerors slipped by the Odenton Christian EAGLES 58-57. Given the Conquerors' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 62nd in Delaware, while the EAGLES are ranked 268th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Milford Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Esdras Mateo led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Mateo is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Keegan Fitzwater was another key player, putting up 21 points and six steals.

Milford Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Milford Christian and bumps their season record up to 2-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points over those games. As for Odenton Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Milford Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-47 defeat against Bayview Christian on the 28th. Odenton Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
