There's a lot that goes into successfully stealing a base in softball, where baserunners must keep one foot on a base until the pitcher throws the ball.

A mix of athleticism, anticipation and aggressiveness – among other attributes – are all needed to get a grade A in stealing bases. Call it the "Art of the Steal."

With so many variables involved, it's extremely rare for a player who's made multiple stolen base attempts during a season to go without ever being unsuccessful.

But with the playoffs well underway, eight of the top 25 base stealers in New York have yet to be caught stealing.

Do you know a player who has put together noteworthy performances this season but isn't on our list? Encourage their coach to upload stats to MaxPreps (contact support@maxpreps.com for information).
