Basketball Recap: Martell Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Miramar over North Tampa Christian Academy

On Monday, the Miramar Patriots came up short against the North Tampa Christian Academy Titans and fell 54-42.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Martell Smith, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Siah Blot, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Toni Bryant continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Tampa Christian Academy, dropping a triple-double on 22 points, 13 boards, and ten blocks. Bryant is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted three or more in the last 46 games he's played dating back to last season. Caleb Sanders was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Miramar's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for North Tampa Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Miramar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 86-38 win against Flanagan on the 23rd. As for North Tampa Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-49 victory against The First Academy on the 25th.
