Alexandria is a perfect 10-0 against Lincoln since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Valley Cubs will host the Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. Alexandria will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Alexandria beat Oxford 5-1. That's two games straight that the Valley Cubs have won by exactly four runs.

Pressley Slaton made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Lumpkin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Reece Carr was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Alexandria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Lincoln might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was Jacksonville who claimed the real prize. The Golden Bears fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 8-6.
Aubrey Machen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Williams, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Alexandria's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 29-8-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 23-14-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alexandria hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alexandria took their win against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-1 score. Will the Valley Cubs repeat their success, or do the Golden Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
