Basketball Recap: Allen East Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Allen East had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Botkins Trojans as they made off with a 64-39 victory. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Rilynn Jones was her usual excellent self, going 9 for 19 en route to 26 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Allen East's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Lehman, who posted 15 points.

Allen East's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for Botkins, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Looking ahead, Allen East will look to defend their home court on February 15th against Lincolnview at 2:00 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jones and Keira Breese. As for Botkins, they will take on Troy Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
