Softball Recap: Allen Park Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Allen Park waltzed into their matchup on Sunday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Salem Rocks 13-3. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.

Allen Park got a great performance from Melody Filipiak as she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Filipiak has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mallory Hool and Mya Brandenburg did most of the damage at the plate: Hool went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Brandenburg went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Hool has posted over her last ten games. Another player making a difference was Mak Sitarski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Allen Park's victory bumped their record up to 26-6. As for Salem, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-6-1.

Allen Park didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-2 win against Airport on the 18th. As for Salem, they will square off against Stevenson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
