Basketball Recap: Franklin Community Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kolt Nelson and Jayce Nielson

Franklin Community was the 87-53 winner over Mooresville when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs fell 66-54 to the Mooresville Pioneers on Thursday. The Grizzly Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Franklin Community's loss came despite strong showings from Jayce Nielson and Kolt Nelson. Nielson went 8 of 11 en route to 18 points, while Nelson went 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.

Franklin Community's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-6. As for Mooresville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Franklin Community won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Shelbyville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shelbyville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season. As for Mooresville, they will venture away from home to face off against Bedford North Lawrence at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
