Harlingen South hadn't beaten Weslaco East on the road since February 6, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Harlingen South Hawks had just enough and edged out the Weslaco East Wildcats 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted against the Wildcats since February 6, 2021.

Harlingen South's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nick Garza, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Garza has posted since back in March of 2024. Noah Garcia was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Harlingen South has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 6.75 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.67 in the others. Weslaco East's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.
