Football Game Preview: Palo Verde Panthers vs. Shadow Ridge Mustangs

The Palo Verde Panthers will square off against the Shadow Ridge Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Palo Verde comes in on 12 and Shadow Ridge on five.

Palo Verde is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Southeast Career Tech, who was ranked seventh at the time (Palo Verde was ranked first). Palo Verde came out on top against Southeast Career Tech by a score of 22-15 on Wednesday.

It was another big night for Samantha Manzo, who rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry.

Palo Verde's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Arden Petkewich with two sacks.

Meanwhile, Shadow Ridge took their game on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 38-8 win over Centennial. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Shadow Ridge's win came from a few key players Palo Verde will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaylani Palmer, who picked up 60 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Ashlyn Mitchell made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Shadow Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mitchell and Brynne Alia.

Shadow Ridge pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points per game. As for Palo Verde, their win bumped their record up to 17-1.

Palo Verde didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Shadow Ridge in their previous meeting on January 3rd, but they still walked away with an 18-14 victory.
