Volleyball Recap: Foundation Academy Starts off Right with Win over Mount Dora

Foundation Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They blew past the Mount Dora Hurricanes 3-0. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Foundation Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Mount Dora between 14 and 16 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-15, 25-16.

Foundation Academy had a senior duo take command as Kaitlyn Hatfield had nine digs and three aces and Luna Dela Cruz had eight digs and two aces.

Foundation Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 13 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Mount Dora lost, don't look at Skye Douglass. Despite the final result, she had 12 digs and two aces.

Foundation Academy has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Cornerstone Charter Academy on the 21st. As for Mount Dora, they will challenge Tavares at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
