Baseball Recap: North Eugene's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous eight matchup, North Eugene brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against the North Salem Vikings on Wednesday as they made off with a 14-4 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Highlanders as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Duncan Roudabush and Mason Baer made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Roudabush tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Baer tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Roudabush went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while Baer went 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael Buschelman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Singleton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

North Eugene's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for North Salem, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Looking ahead, North Eugene will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Ashland at 5:00 p.m. As for North Salem, they are taking a road trip to take on Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
