Recap: Argonaut Mustangs vs. Casa Roble Rams
The Argonaut Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Casa Roble. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (60), Argonaut still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Argonaut still got an impressive performance from Mitchell Mcmahan, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Mcmahan's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Duran, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Leading Casa Roble to victory were Benny Ambriz and Moses Oginni. Ambriz scored 23 points along with 7 rebounds, while Oginni dropped a double-double on 20 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ambriz has scored at least 25% of Casa Roble's points. Travis Remly was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Argonaut and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Casa Roble, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Argonaut is on the road again on Saturday and play against San Juan at 3:00 p.m. on December 2nd. San Juan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Casa Roble, they will square off against KIPP SF College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
