Softball Game Preview: Bexley Lions vs. Whetstone Braves

The Bexley Lions will venture away from home to take on the Whetstone Braves at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Bexley has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Bexley faced off against Westerville South on Monday. The Lions lost 21-10 to the Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Davaney Prophet was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Erica Golden also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Whetstone was able to grind out a solid win over Beechcroft on Friday, taking the game 11-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Braves.

Whetstone got a massive performance out of Avery Bair, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sara Kraus, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Whetstone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Whetstone's record now sits at 10-6. As for Bexley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.

Bexley might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Whetstone when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
