Preview: Sierra Grande Panthers vs. Moffat Cowboys
The Sierra Grande Panthers and the Moffat Cowboys will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Moffat took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Sierra Grande, who comes in off a win.
Sierra Grande scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Antonito 56-19 at home. Sierra Grande pushed the score to 37-8 by the end of the third, a deficit Antonito had little chance of recovering from.
Sierra Grande's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaylyn Quezada, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals. Quezada hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Alexia Gonzalez, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Moffat suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Creede, falling 63-33. Moffat has not had much luck with Creede recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Sierra Grande's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Moffat, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Everything came up roses for Sierra Grande against Moffat when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 61-26 win. Will Sierra Grande repeat their success, or does Moffat have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
