Basketball Game Preview: Lake Forest Academy Caxys vs. Northridge Knights

Lake Forest Academy is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Northridge is on a four-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Lake Forest Academy Caxys will welcome the Northridge Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Lake Forest Academy slipped by Thornton Fractional South 49-48. Given the Caxys' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Red Wolves are ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northridge). They claimed a resounding 89-58 victory over Francis W. Parker. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Northridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Lake Forest Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

Lake Forest Academy came up short against Northridge when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 48-41. Can Lake Forest Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
