Softball Recap: Ripon Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Win

Ripon extended their winning streak to ten on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 17-7 in the process. They put the hurt on the Riverbank Bruins with a sharp 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Alexandra Dubbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madelyn Fouts, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Naranjo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Riverbank, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-22-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered against Ripon since March 29, 2022.

On Riverbank's side, Maya Guzman put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits Guzman has allowed since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Guzman wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Briseida Felix, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Ripon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverbank, they will take on Linden at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
