McCluer is on a five-game streak of home losses, Father McGivney Catholic a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Saturday. The McCluer Comets will take on the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins in a tournament on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Thursday, McCluer had to suffer through a 67-34 loss at the hands of Nashville. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 444th in Missouri, while the Hornets are ranked 67th in Illinois).

Meanwhile, Father McGivney Catholic played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Highland 76-38. The Griffins were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-19.

Despite the loss, Father McGivney Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carson Barone made all 5 shots he took for 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barone has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of David Carroll, who posted seven points and seven steals.

McCluer's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Father McGivney Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
