Baseball Recap: Beechwood Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Beechwood dropped their record down to 19-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Highlands Bluebirds, falling 7-1. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bluebirds earlier this season, when they won 9-6.

Beechwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Carlisle, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for Highlands, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Highlands' side, Jake Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Robinson has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Iain Carner, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Wiggins, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Beechwood will take on Western Brown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Highlands, they will challenge Campbell County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bluebirds 3.5, the Camels 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
