Basketball Recap: The First Academy Comes Up Short

The First Academy and San Jose Prep squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but The First Academy had to settle for second. They fell 54-46 to the San Jose Prep Storm.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Jose Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lamiyah Hogans, who went 8-for-10 to rack up 25 points and six rebounds. What's more, Hogans also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jazlynn Curtis, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and five assists.

The First Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 23-5. As for San Jose Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-9.

The First Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Jose Prep, they will challenge Providence School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Providence School's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.
