Softball Recap: Rigby Comes Up Short

Rigby extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-11 in the process. They lost 13-3 to the Thunder Ridge Titans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Titans this season, with their most recent loss being a 14-3 defeat last Tuesday.

Rigby saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maggie Stowell, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Thunder Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.

On Thunder Ridge's side, Alex Bundy and Chelsea Adams were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Bundy pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Adams pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Bundy has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Bundy went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Adams fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave Adams a new career-high.

In other batting news, Giulia Johns was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maleah Kappas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

While Rigby had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
