Baseball Recap: Malakoff Finds Playoff Glory Versus White Oak

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Malakoff had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the White Oak Roughnecks 4-3. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 6-3 win on Saturday.

Zain Jones was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Malakoff's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

Malakoff is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. As for White Oak, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-10 record this season.

Malakoff will face off against Hughes Springs on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 4.1, the Mustangs 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. White Oak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
